Sometimes when people play on a team they do not only learn about the sport they are playing they also learn how to become a better person. Being a part of PVC I did not only grow as an athlete I also grew as a person in general. The atmosphere that the club brings is one a person would never forget. Everybody involved is not only there for volleyball but to help every kid as an individual. Being a player who did not play with the club for all my years of volleyball I can say I never felt out of place. Even though the group of girls that I played with had been playing with each other since junior high they never let me feel left out. Not only were the girls my teammates but they had become family. No matter who you were everyone who was a part of the club would take you under their wing. Not only was each team an individual family but by the end of the day, the club was one big family all together. PVC has a very home like environment if you were having a bad day they would make sure you left practice with a smile. I would strongly recommend PVC to other athletes, they run the club very well when it comes to helping the kids learn. PVC was not only the club I played for but my family. Any kid would be lucky to be apart of the club.

Being a PVC athlete has helped me grow in so many different ways. Not only has it improved my volleyball skills as an athlete, but has created so many new opportunities for me; none of which I would have had without the opportunity of being a PVC athlete.
Being part of a team has taught me so many lessons. It has shown me how to communicate with others in more ways than one; in the regards to reading others body movements/actions and better communicating verbally. It has also given me the chance to learn many different relationships athletes can have. Especially in volleyball where there are so many different positions and they all need to work on the same page in order to function as a team. In correlation with that, there is a much different relationship between the setter and middle (I played middle), then the libero and middle. It taught me to trust others and rely on others to do their job so I could properly do mine.
Not only did I gain knowledge from those lessons but I also gained friendships. These aren’t any normal friendships that you make at school, these are friendship that have to be strong because that is how a team thrives. And nothing makes them better than winning as a team. When you accomplish what you sought out to do, it brings everyone together.
PVC helped me grow and mature as an individual. It taught me the mindset of a player, that even when you mess up you cannot dwell on what had happened but instead focus on what the next thing that lays ahead; to get the next point, to do what’s in front of you and move on from what’s behind you. That in its self can take a person a life time to accomplish, and it still continues to challenge me. However, fortunately for me PVC has helped me get a head start on it, and for all that I am forever grateful. That is what being a PVC athlete means to me.
